Hokuto City in Yamanashi Prefecture overlooks the Yatsugatake Mountains in the Southern Alps and is blessed with abundant water, food and history.

This tour will allow you to experience the area to the fullest, which can be reached in 90 minutes from Tokyo, and includes an accommodation at Hotel Keyforest Hokuto.

Experience Highlights

GASBON METABOLISM

Opening in 2022 , this facility will allow artists to stay and create at a prime location with views of the Southern Alps and the Yatsugatake Mountains, and on the site of a huge former factory with a site area of over 1,000 square meters.
There are various viewpoints on the premises, including an antique shop and a biotope, and the adjacent MANGOSTEEN HOKUTO welcomes you to visit Manchin Brewery, a craft beer brewery; Manchin Liquor Store, a taproom where you can drink draft beer; and Manchinbao, a restaurant serving boiled dumplings made with malt after processing, the main ingredient in beer.

Enjoy the Grace Wine vineyards from the comfort of your car

In 2010, Grace Wine brews wines made from grapes that were the first indigenous to Japan to be registered on the International Organization for Vine and Wine (OIV) list, and whose labels display the varietal name. In addition, at the Decanter World Wine Awards, the world's largest wine competition, their "Cuvée Misawa Akeno Koshu 2013" was the first Japanese wine to win a gold medal and regional trophy. For the six years since then, Grace Wine's Koshu has won gold medals. You can view this vineyard from inside the car.

Tour of the "Shichiken" storehouses

Shichiken is a Japanese sake that has been produced in Hokuto City for about 300 years since 1750.
We have formed a producer group with local farmers to grow the rice used as our raw material.
You can enjoy sake tasting as you tour "Densogura," a space that displays valuable materials such as calligraphy, artwork, and ancient documents handed down by the Kitahara family, the brewer.

Enjoy Kyogen at Misogi Shrine

Misogi Shrine shares the secret practice of "misogi," an ancient Shinto ritual, as well as the virtues of this practice, with everyone.
Misogi means to become "clean."

Misogi Shrine is a shrine that is crowned by the ancient Shinto main shrine, and its "Shinmei-zukuri main hall" and "Kiso cypress Noh theater" are unique facilities in the world.
Experience traditional Japanese culture at a Kyogen workshop led by Noh actor Tanro Ishida of the Izumi school of Kyogen. You can also watch a performance at the Noh Theater.

LUNCH DINING

Kobuchizawa Izutsuya

“Aged eel” is rare in Japan.

The best eel is carefully prepped and laid down to concentrate its flavor.

The best eel is grilled over binchotan charcoal with crispy skin and fluffy meat, and served with our famous “bamboo rice” style.

The bamboo is cut by the owner in the bamboo grove at the foot of Mt. Yatsugatake.
